Description

The Provincial Archives of Saskatchewan (PAS) is seeking one (1) Archival Clerk to assist with records management and archival reviews of internal PAS records, and other activities as required, to facilitate historical appraisal and determine the records eligibility for destruction. This is an excellent opportunity to gain an understanding of operations in a large heritage institution. Work schedule may consist of full-time or part-time hours, and is flexible depending on student availability. Hours of work will be Monday to Friday, between 7:30  am and 4:30 pm. This temporary position will cover 576 hours of work, and must be completed by March 31, 2023.

The clerk will assist Information Management Analysts and Appraisal Archivists in assessment of the internal records. This position will be responsible for creating new and examining existing inventories, identifying gaps in information and reconciling physical boxes with existing listings. Working with supervising staff, the clerk will correct gaps and inconsistencies, and retrieve, organize, and rehouse records in preparation for historical appraisal or destruction.

Candidate requires a general knowledge of archives and records and information management; organizational and time management skills; knowledge of office and administrative techniques, procedures and protocols in order to organize and perform a variety of administrative tasks related to management of inactive records. Candidate requires a knowledge of computer databases; word processing software; spreadsheet software; internet/browsers, including being able to input, update, edit, retrieve, maintain, merge, format, and transmit information/data using a variety of software and/or electronic systems with speed and accuracy.  Knowledge of Microsoft Access and Excel is an asset.
