Gateway Co-operative Limited is accepting applications for a full-time bakery/deli associate.
- To ensure outstanding, courteous customer service is provided at all times to all internal and external customers.
- To promote themselves as a brand ambassador for the Gateway Co-operative.
- To prepare, wrap, price and stock product as required and assigned.
- To maintain and display all types of bakery and/or deli products according to standards.
- To provide proper maintenance of equipment, monitor case temperatures and clean equipment regularly.
- Any other duties needed to help to drive Gateway Co-op's vision and abide by our co-operative's values of responsibility, respect and excellence.
QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or working on completion of a high school diploma.
- Working knowledge of bakery/deli quality, hygiene, safety, and food preparation.
- Good communication and organizational skills.
- Must be committed to a SAFE working environment.
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Must have the demonstrated ability to fulfil physical job requirements including, but not limited to:
o ability to reach, bend, stoop and lift to 11.34 kg. (25 pounds).
o lift boxes up to 22.67 kg.(50 pounds) on an intermittent basis.
o ability to push/pull heavier loads over 22.67 kg (50 pounds) with use of a pallet jack; ability to climb ladders.
o extended periods of standing; repetitive manual work and other physically demanding requirements.
- Exposure to verbal abuse from aggressive, rude and/or inebriated customers.
- Will be required to perform job activities under work conditions such as cold, heat, at heights, higher noise levels.
- Exposure to hot equipment (baking oven) and machinery which may cause serious injury (meat or bread slicer).
- On-call as required. Will require to work mornings, afternoons, evenings, and weekends.
