Job Description: Assists the department manager in program planning, implementation, and evaluation of program goals based on population health strategies, best practice strategies, disease rates and community need. Provides direct client service in immunization to maintain skills and competency in this procedure. Provides leadership in the clinical area through coaching and mentoring of nursing staff, office clerks and students. Keeps abreast of trends and new initiatives related to clinical practice, research and education. Develops related policies and procedures as appropriate. Leads the development of immunization outreach strategies for vulnerable populations. Reviews databases/reports/statistical information on a quarterly and yearly basis to monitor immunization activities and program outcomes. Makes recommendations to the department manager for changes to program activities to achieve program outcome measures. Provides orientation in the clinical area including certification of transfer of medical function. Provides feedback to the supervisors on staff performance in the clinical area for performance appraisals. Ensures yearly re-certification of program staff in special nursing procedures and transfer of medical functions. Plans and implements professional in-service education to maintain competence in the clinical area. Provides clinical observational experiences for medical students and precepts nursing students. Provides group education for professional groups and students as required. Participates in internal and external interdisciplinary committees. Participates in research activities related to specific program area. Liaises with pharmaceutical representatives to provide education and products for program needs. Participates on provincial committees related to clinical area.
