Description

Within the context of a resident-centered model, in accordance with established standards of professional practice, and the vision, mission and values of The Salvation Army/William Booth Special Care Home/Grace Hospice, the Recreation Therapist works as a member of the care team and provides recreation therapy services with the residents of the facility.  

The Recreation Therapist utilizes a strengths approach to practice with a focus on enhancing quality of life, life long leisure skills and interests, reduce barriers to engagement, and optimizing leisure participation for residents of WBSCH/GH.  The clinical role and function of the Recreation Therapist includes assessment, intervention planning, utilization of evidence informed interventions, evaluation and documentation.  Services are provided to groups or individuals relating to the residents leisure needs, interests and abilities and overall treatment/care plan.  
The Recreation Therapist is responsible to oversee the delivery of the Recreation Program, work in collaboration with the Recreation Coordinator and Recreation Workers.  

Qualifications:  Baccalaureate degree in Recreation Therapy, or a Bachelor Degree in Recreation Studies with a specialization in Therapeutic Recreation. Preference to CTRS designation.

Experience in a Health Care/Long Term Care environment is preferred.
                      
Present Shift: Mon-Fri 0900-1600
Start Date: September 6, 2022
