Description

Porcupine Opportunities Program, a non-profit organization that supports adults with intellectual and physical disabilities, is seeking Vocational Program Staff for their Day Program in Hudson Bay, SK. This is a permanent part time position consisting of an average of 15 hours/week up to a maximum of 35 hours/week.

The Vocational Activity Worker will provide a work, educational, and recreational environment that provides a high quality of life to program participants .They will work together with other staff and the Program Manager to best met the vocational need of participants.

Responsibilities:
- Developing, prioritizing, and implementing daily activity plans for residents in concert with others;
- Work in partnership with other staff to ensure the needs of participants are met.
- Provide continual support and assistance to participants as individuals and as a group including:
- Providing transport for participants to and from the program and associated activities as required
- Medication administration as necessary
- Assisting with personal care needs if necessary
Qualifications
- Ability to work with multiple program participants while remaining focused on individuals needing individual attention and care.    
- Ability to both follow instructions and to think and act independently when needed.  
- Willingness to do duties as assigned in a safe and timely manner.
- Effectively communicate with supervisors, co-workers, and clients.
- Help lift and support participants, where needed.
- Preference will be given to individuals with post-secondary training and/or experience in a profession related to working with individuals with disabilities and/or health care.
- Possess a valid drivers license.
Assets (not mandatory)
- Experience working with people with disabilities
- Training in CPR, TLR and First Aid
