John Howard Society is looking for Youth Caseworker. We offer; Health and Dental Benefits, 4 weeks vacation. Night and Weekend premium
Under the supervision of the Manager of Outreach Programs, or her/his designate, the Youth Connect Caseworker will assist in case management and in the field service delivery of the Community Runaway Program, as they provide direct services for youth.
Duties:
In the field work with the youth in the program, including:
o Make the necessary services as easily accessible as possible for youth in the program
o Promote positive independent problem solving and decision-making skills
o Provide information and life skills support to youth related to personal, family, housing, healing, safety, work, school, income, etc.
Assist in case management and support for youth in the program, including:
o Intensive case management
o Provide stabilization crisis support
o Provide incidental problem solving and emotional support to youth
o Provide emergency, incidental behavior management (non-violent crisis intervention)
o Refer youth to support services with other agencies (ex: income support, employment, counseling, addiction services, mental health service, etc.)
o Facilitate weekly group circles
In addition:
o Role model positive behavior and encourage, and assist youth to practice self-help and non-violent problem solving skills daily
o Ability to provide effective and accurate written documentation (ex: case management notes, incident reports, referrals to outside agencies, etc.)
o Maintain confidentiality
o Perform other related duties as assigned/needed
Qualifications:
University Bachelors degree in the Human Services sector Compliance with the designated Risk Management policies of the National John Howard Society.
Valid Saskatchewan drivers license.
Clean Criminal Record/Vulnerable Sector check
First AID and CPR
Non-Violent Crisis Intervention training
Suicide Intervention training
