The Metis Addictions Council of Saskatchewan Inc.,(MACSI),is a non-profit community based provincial organization that has been serving the people of Saskatchewan for over 50 years. As an Addictions Counsellor, you will have the opportunity to be exposed to all areas of our addictions services while working in a team environment. Addictions Counsellors play a pivotal role in ensuring our continued addiction services to our clients in our community. You will provide a strong knowledge and methods of counselling principles, strong interpersonal and group facilitation skills. This position is open to applicants of all genders.
Responsibilities:
1.Work as a team with other counsellors to plan and coordinate treatment objectives
2.Complete and maintain accurate records and reports regarding the clients histories and progress, services provided (ex: Case Notes, Progress Notes, Communication Log Book, Individual Service Plans, Progress Summary Reports, ADG Forms)
3.Counsel clients, individually or in group sessions, to assist in overcoming dependencies and adjusting to life
4.Interview clients, review files, and confer with other counsellor to evaluate the individuals' mental and physical condition and to determine their suitability for participation
5.Develop client treatment plans based on clinical experience and client histories
6.Review and evaluate clients' progress in relation to goals described in treatment
7.Intervene as an advocate for clients to resolve emergency problems in crisis situations
8.Participate in daily morning staff meetings and two weekly clinical and planning meetings
9.Modify treatment plans according to changes in client status
10.Assist clients in adhering to treatment plans, such as setting up appointments, arranging for transportation to appointments, or providing support
