POSITION AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The MLTC Bioenergy Centre consists of a 6.6 MW power generation system that is fueled primarily by biomass sawmill residuals. The plant supplies power to the SaskPower grid, and provides low-carbon process heating (kilns and building heat). Reporting to the Chief Operator, the successful candidate will foster a strong safety culture within the MLTC BioEnergy Centre.
DUTIES WILL INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
-Commissioning and startup of BioEnergy Centre
-Ensure the safety of people, equipment, and the environment while ensuring plant procedures and policies are followed.
-Perform plant operation duties including proactive equipment monitoring and rounds in a safe and efficient manner and ensure shift changes are well communicated with oncoming crew.
-Prepare equipment for maintenance using lock out for energy isolation of equipment.
-Issuing safety and hot work permits within a plant operating environment.
-Ensure timely action and process adjustments during plant upsets that are consistent with operational objectives and target outputs.
-Control room and field operational duties will be required.
-The successful candidates will monitor the day to day power plant operational activities, on a 12 hour day/night rotating shift basis.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Power engineering certification is not required but will be considered an asset.
Minimum 5 years relevant work experience.
Equivalent combination of education and work experience will be considered.
