The Director of Protection reports directly to the Executive Director. The Director of Protection will be responsible for a wide array of duties. The Director of Protection will oversee a team of Child Protection Workers and the delivery of a generic service system and will be responsible for ensuring the effective delivery of services and compliance with current child welfare standards/legislation and internal policies and procedures
Credentials (certificates, licences, memberships, courses, etc.)
- Provincial certificate of registration
- Membership with the Canadian Association of Social Workers
- Membership in a provincial association of social workers
Additional Skills
- Supervise other social workers, paid para-professional staff, student trainees and volunteers
Specific Skills
- Plan programs of assistance for clients
- Interview clients to assess their situation and determine the types of services required and eligibility
- Investigate cases of child abuse or neglect and take authorized protective action when necessary
