Description

Income Assistance workers are empathetic, compassionate, and non-judgmental collaborators with excellent communication skills who treat all people with dignity, respect, and objectivity. They accept and understand the importance of the clients perspective in a clientfriendly approach to case planning and are flexible when working with clients and their families and community organizations. They are reliable and adapt easily to changes in workload, policies and procedures in a continuously changing environment.

In this position, you will: Effectively communicate with clients (both in person and written); Meet with clients in person to provide case management/support and with other third parties; Enjoy and value working with diverse and multi-cultural individuals/families; Understand and adhere to applicable legislation, regulations, policies, and procedures; Be proficient in conflict resolution; Manage all client and work interactions and conflict in a calm, ethical, assertive, and respectful manner; and Be required to work flexible hours that accommodate the needs of the clients and the program.  You may be required to travel. Applicants must have a valid Driver's Licence.  

Typically, the knowledge for this position would be obtained through the completion of an undergraduate degree in Social Work, Indigenous Social Work, Sociology, Human Justice, Psychology, or a related course of study. Candidates are asked to clearly identify in their cover letter and/or resume how they have gained the required knowledge and demonstrated abilities required.
