Description

Under the direction of the Executive Director, the Family Worker will provide counselling, guidance, support, encouragement and direction to individuals and families primarily of Indigenous ancestry.
Duties and Responsibilities
The Family Worker will:
-Work primarily with Kinship Clients referred by the Ministry of Social Services (Family Services Branch) providing support required to help them cope and maintain care for children.
-Set up a plan of action with clients and assist them in working toward becoming self-sufficient and responsible individuals.
-Provide individual and family counselling to clients geared toward an efficient healing process.
-Organize and co-ordinate Self-help workshops.
-Follow up with Home Visits to monitor progress of clients.
-Act as liaison and advocate with Landlords, Social Services and other agencies.
-Maintain up-to-date list of referral agencies and make periodic contact with these agencies to ensure a good working relationship.
-Record statistical information on each client.
-Engage in the fundraising and community engagement activities hosted by the Friendship Centre
-Subject to criminal record and vulnerable persons check
Qualifications/Requirements:
-    BSW or BISW preferred.
-Knowledge of Indigenous languages and culture an asset
-Knowledge of Saskatoon's Indigenous Community Services and Supports is an asset
-Experience or background in addictions services an asset
-Valid Driver's License and reliable vehicle.
