Description

The Saskatchewan Geological Survey (SGS) is a branch in the Ministry of Energy and Resources and is responsible for investigating, managing, and distributing information on the geology, mineral and petroleum resources of the province.

SGS has an exciting and challenging opportunity for a highly motivated individual with excellent communication, interpersonal, collaborative and leadership skills to fill the position of Production Editor.

The Production Editor is responsible for editing and publishing geoscientific reports and maps. In this position you will work independently and as part of a team, where you are responsible for internal and external communications and public information services. You will collaborate with staff, ensuring that publications are reviewed for consistency and clarity, adhere to SGS standards, and are completed in a timely manner. You will prepare a variety of conference materials for the annual SGS Open House, ensuring all correspondence meet editorial standards and deadlines.

The successful candidate will have excellent skills in writing and editing that include a variety of technical, and scientific material. You ensure document content is accurate, and tone and style are appropriate, and the grammar, syntax, spelling, and vocabulary is exceptional in all material. You will be well-organized, flexible, and able to complete quality work to meet deadlines on short notice.

Typically, the knowledge for this position would be obtained through a degree in English, Journalism, Geoscience (or a related area) and relevant experience. Knowledge of geoscience terminology and concepts would be seen as an asset.
