Under the direction of the Executive Director of the SIMFC, the Resolution Health Support Worker will provide counselling, guidance and direction, primarily to individuals and/or families of aboriginal ancestry who are experiencing social problems associated with the effects of Indian Residential School/Sixties Scoop/Day School/Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women & Girls.
Duties:
Advocate and liaison for claimants with lawyers, adjudicators, government representatives, Elders, family members, and those involved in hearing.
Initiate and maintain communication with claimants.
Maintain communication with Health Canada and lawyers for transportation, accommodation, and meals for claimants hearing.
Submits all information, reports, records, and statistics as required.
Be able to develop, maintain, gather and analyze various statistics
Maintain detailed file notes and statistics.
Conduct community needs assessments prior to IAP interviews and claims within a community.
Connect/maintain communication with communities for CEP/IAP presentations and displays.
Understand basic emotional/physical triggers for abused victims and apply intervention.
Maintain a high standard of confidentiality regarding clients.
Provide transportation.
Facilitate information sessions.
Attend/host evening support groups/meetings on evenings and/or weekends.
Other responsibilities/duties as assigned
Qualifications/skills:
o Valid drivers license
o Criminal record check
o Post-Secondary education in Social Work, Sociology or a related field
o A combination of education and related experience will be considered
o Have a good understanding of the Resolution Health Support Program
o Have some knowledge of various computer programs- Microsoft Word, Excel, etc
