The Safety Advisor is responsible for supporting the Plant Manager on applicable legal and other requirements while creating a culture of Safety in all the plants. The successful candidate must be able to build solid internal relationships with the local Operations Team in an effort to gain support for safety programs. The Safety Advisor investigates safety incidents and events, performs root cause analyses, and devises permanent corrective action plans for Safety Incident Reports, oversees the preparation of these reports and monitors the implementation of corrective action plans.
To observe and reinforce positive safety behaviors by engaging employees in conversations about working safely, covering such topics as their perceptions of the risks associated with their jobs, their understanding of safe work methods and requirements, and their input and suggestions about safety issues all to educate, and identify health and safety risks for elimination/mitigation.
Requirements
Post-secondary education in Occupational Health and Safety or related field
3 - 7 years experience in a manufacturing environment, large facilities, maintenance or construction
WHMIS certification
Active Occupational First Aid Level 2 certificate will be required during employment
Proficient in MS Office
Strong understanding of Work Safe SK regulations.
Understanding of Saskatchewan Work Safe/OHS regulations as an asset
Great communicator Verbally and written.
Strong time management, planning, organizing, and prioritization skills.
Some travel to Richmond, BC Plant, and Moose Jaw, SK plant required.
A can-do, positive attitude.
