The Saskatchewan Research Councils (SRC) Rare Earth Element Division has an opening for a Mechanical Technologist to provide support for research and technology (R&T) projects in energy, mining, process engineering, environmental and rare earth element industries.
Accountabilities
Assist in preparing computer-assisted design (CAD) engineering designs, drawings and specifications
Work with fabricators to provide drawing packages and obtain quotes
Participate in installing, repairing and maintaining machinery and equipment
Perform on-site measurements to support design and integration of modifications
Develop and manage templates, CAD standards, part files, drawing libraries and document control in accordance with quality standards
Test prototypes and set up apparatus for R&T projects
Prepare parts lists, material bills and procurement lists
Qualifications
A diploma in mechanical engineering technology
Minimum five years of experience working in a related field, including manufacturing or fabrication, and at a consulting engineering firm is preferred
Experience with AutoCAD, Inventor, Vault and Plant 3D is preferred
Experience working on capital projects involving process equipment and/or experience with electrical schematics, single-line diagrams and panel layout drawings are assets

Mechanical aptitude with practical design experience
Team player with demonstrated problem-solving abilities
The chosen candidate will be required to provide an original Criminal Record Check that is satisfactory to SRC prior to the commencement of any employment duties. The Criminal Record Check must have been executed within the preceding 30 days of receipt.
