Job Purpose

Under the direction of the Settlement and Community Support Director, the Settlement Support Worker in Schools assists refugee and immigrant students and their families with school-related and cultural issues by providing connection to education and community services, counseling, facilitating group and individual programs, and coordinating the integration of services.

Education and Experience

-University degree in education, social work, or related field and, one year of work experience providing school age children/family counselling services; OR,
-Experience working in a school setting with families, teachers and school administrators.
-Experience working in a cross-cultural environment.
-Conflict Management and mediation training.
-Public speaking experience.
-Experience conducting/facilitating workshops.
