The City of Swift Current is inviting applications for the position of Mechanic Journeyperson. This is a permanent full-time in-scope position.

Under the direction of the Service Garage Superintendent, you will perform duties involving inspections, preventive maintenance and repair on equipment and machinery from all city departments. You will be required to supply your own tools.

Basic Requirements:
Grade 12 Education or GED;
Certificate of qualification as a Journeyman and/or Heavy Duty Mechanic;
Willingness to become Youth Certified;
Must possess and maintain a valid Class 5A Saskatchewan Drivers License and have ability to upgrade to a Class 3A or 1A license if required;
Knowledge and ability to use both mechanical and computerized diagnostic
equipment;
Ability to work with minimum supervision, and to work well with other employees; and
Mechanic Apprentice may be considered  must have successfully completed 2nd, 3rd, or 4th year of Apprenticeship Program.

Desirable Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Ability to identify automotive/heavy duty equipment mechanical and electrical problems;
Knowledge and understanding of electronic components, electrical systems
and schematics; and
Ability to weld and carry out moderate fabrication.
