Description

The Support Worker will have a diverse skill set to provide support and guidance to families with multiple risk factors. The Support Worker provides non-judgmental supportive services to families working with Foxvalley Counselling Services Inc., Doreen's Place. Support Workers work non-traditional hours which may include evenings and weekends supporting families with tasks such as: bedtime and school routines, parenting, life skills, and connecting with formal and in-formal supports in the community to address addictions, traumas and domestic violence issues. Doreen's Place is a program that advocates for reunification of families and provides them with a safe and sober living environment.
Requirements:
-Grade 12 or equivalency
-Current First Aid and CPR.
-Knowledge and experience working with families who have experienced trauma, addictions, emotional and mental challenges.
-Knowledge and understanding of Indigenous culture and historical trauma.
-Conflict resolution skills.
-Computer skills and report writing.
-Drives license and appropriate insurance coverage to transport families.
-Criminal record check including vulnerable sector check required upon hire.
-Availability to work evenings, overnights, and weekends is required.
