Lac La Ronge Indian Band Woodland Wellness Centre is now inviting applications for (1) One Permanent Full Time, Traditional Therapist to work in the community of La Ronge. This position will provide traditional services to the LLRIB communities and will report to the Prevention & Recovery Manager. The ideal candidate will be responsible for protecting, incorporating, and promoting Woodland traditional practices and medicines.
Duties:
Improve the mental, emotional, spiritual and physical wellbeing of communities and members, while strengthening the traditional health care system;
Aims to improve the health of First Nations by incorporating First Nations healing and wellness;
Preventing and treating of chronic conditions while promoting health and wellness;
Knowledge of traditional human development and family dynamics;
Other duties as assigned by immediate supervisor and/or designate;
Qualifications:
Bachelors Degree in Social Work or another Human Services Discipline deemed appropriate to provide counselling;
Required Professional Registration Number with a Regulatory Body (i.e. Saskatchewan Social Work Association, Canadian Social Work Association, etc.)
Ability to counsel Children, Youth and Adults;
Ability to work within multidisciplinary team;
Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
Knowledge of the Woodland Cree Language, Traditions and Culture is an asset;
Ability to travel to outlying LLRIB communities;
Must have a valid class 5 drivers license;
Current Criminal Record/Vulnerable Sector Check and Drivers Abstract required upon hire.
