Job Description: The Mental Health Social Worker will provide client-driven health and social case management assistance to children and youth in the community of La Ronge and those clients attending the La Ronge Health Centre to achieve safe and reasonable goals that will optimize clients health and wellness and improve their quality of life. The Mental Health Social Worker works in collaboration with clients, their families and community and government agencies, and works closely with the Mental and Addictions teams in La Ronge.

The Mental Health Social Worker also acts as a resource to and supports the development of community and interagency initiatives as they pertain to their mandate. The position reports to the Manager Mental Health and Addiction Services.

Qualifications:
Degree in Social Work is required
Membership with Saskatchewan Association of Social Workers (SASW)
Possession of a valid drivers license

Preference for this position will be given to HSAS members in accordance with the terms and conditions of the SAHO/HSAS Collective Agreement.  HSAS seniority within the Saskatchewan Health Authority will be considered under the Selection Criteria.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Knowledge of human development and family dynamics relating to family violence, trauma, addiction and poverty is essential
- Specific understanding of child and youth mental health issues is required
- A wide range of counselling skills are required in working with children, youth and their families
- Knowledge of crisis intervention strategies
- Knowledge of child and youth treatment programming is required as well as the skill to develop /evaluate these programs consistent with latest
research (Best Practices )
