JOB DESCRIPTION: DAIRY FARM WORKER (NOC 8431)
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Milk approximately 950 cows per day with 8 groups being milked 3 times per day.
2. Operate, maintain, and clean milking equipment
3. Handle, feed, and care for dairy herd and young stock
4. Recognize cow locomotion problems, record, and report to hoof health technician.
5. Complete tasks for barn duties during non-milking times or other general farm duties.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
1. Knowledge in environmental good practice at work
2. Knowledge of workplace safety requirements and procedures
3. Ability to deliver basic treatments to dairy cattle and record appropriately
4. Ability to perform general farm duties
5. Ability to withstand physically demanding outdoor work all year round
6. Decision making skills
7. Effective verbal and listening communication skills in English
