Located 10 km North of Saskatoon, Virtex is a farmer owned Non-GMO Canola Processing Facility. Our commitment is to produce and sell quality, value added food products from our farmers to the meet the needs of consumers. This is an excellent opportunity to start on the ground floor with a growing company. We are currently seeking individuals to join our operations team as an entry level Operator 1 in shipping-receiving.
RESPONSIBILITY:
This entry level position can lead to advancement to Process Operator which is a higher level of responsibility of operating equipment for crush seed preparation and refinery process areas of our facility.
Work with process operators and plant management to assist in the smooth operational running of the crush plant and shipping and receiving of inbound and outbound trucks.
Shipping/receiving canola seed, meal, oil, miscellaneous
Forklift operation, grain handling auger, scissor lift, skid steer
Participates in shift/team activities including complying with best practices, standard operating procedures, maintenance, job-related training, and continuous improvement efforts.
REQUIRED PROFILE:
Possess strong mechanical aptitude, with good problem solving and decision-making skills.
Good health and ability to work in a physically challenging environment
Strong interpersonal, organizational and time management skills enabling multi-tasking, prioritizing work, and exercising initiative to ensure an efficient and quality level of service
Good computer skills (MS Office, e-mail), comfortable with learning new computer programs.
Able to develop strong and effective working relationships at all levels of the organization
SKILL AND ABILITY ASSETS:
Previous experience in shipping/receiving or in a canola/food processing an asset, but not required.
A proven team player and an ability to work well with others, communication, problem solving, decision making, critical thinking.
Ability to work with minimal supervision.
