Job Description: The Primary Care Nurse Practitioner is an advanced practice nurse with knowledge and skills gained through additional education and experience.
The Nurse Practitioner blends an in-depth knowledge of nursing with their legal authority and autonomy to order diagnostic tests, prescribe
pharmaceuticals and perform specific procedures in the management and treatment of common acute illnesses and stable chronic conditions. The
Primary Care Nurse Practitioner practices within a framework of evidence-based interventions, holism, health promotion, and disease and injury
prevention.

Education:
Must be registered with the College of Registered Nurses of Saskatchewan (CRNS)and licensed as Nurse Practitioner
Masters Degree in Nursing preferred
Required to participate in ongoing related education as specified by the employer

Experience:
The incumbent must have a minimum of 5 years experience as a Registered Nurse
Enhanced knowledge of clinical assessment, diagnosis and treatment of common illnesses and stable chronic diseases
Knowledge of advanced communications strategies and approaches to adapt to multiple and ever changing situations and environments
Knowledge of community development and facilitation strategies
Knowledge of conflict resolution techniques
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Demonstrates responsible decision-making ability through the application of critical thinking
Demonstrates ability to implement holistic, comprehensive care to individuals, groups, families and the community
Demonstrates clinical/health assessment, diagnostic, pharmacotherapeutics and therapeutic intervention skills working to the scope of practice of the RN(NP) role
Demonstrates communication skills, both verbal and nonverbal, that creates positive outcomes, builds relationships, and supports
