Job Description:
The Youth Support Worker is responsible to provide support and supervision to the youth in the Circles of Care Program to assist their successful reunification with family and community.

Qualifications: Knowledge of First Nations culture, traditions, and beliefs is required. The Youth Care Worker will have a combination of education and experience related to working with youth and will possess personal attributes that facilitate the development of trusting and caring relationships with youth. Criminal Record Check, and valid class 5 drivers license are required.

Responsibilities:

1. To participate as a member of the service planning team to develop and implement individualized goals and strategies for each youth and their caregiver

2. To assist the youth in making positive social connections in the community though facilitating the youths participation in a range of recreation, cultural and social activities.

3. To support the youths participation in an education program by working collaboratively with the caregiver and school staff

4. To support and coach the youth in learning and applying a variety of skills in the family and community

5. To check in with the youth and caregiver on a regular scheduled basis to offer support, identify strengths and successes, problem solving, and discuss strategies to support the youth

6. To provide an immediate response to support the youth and caregivers at times of crisis

7. To facilitate the youths attendance to a variety of appointments such as medical, dental, and mental health counselling

8. To learn and operate by the agencys philosophy, policies and procedures.
