Description

Reporting to Chief Operating Officer, this position will be responsible for facilitating, promoting, and ensuring economic vitality to secure opportunities for economic and business development. The position will develop, recommend and implement an Economic Development Strategy and program for STC and the communities which includes marketing and promotion of economic opportunities and investment. The position will facilitate community and economic development planning and initiatives; identify and foster community economic development & tourism marketing opportunities; secure funding & partnerships for economic development activities, events, & programs; assist local organizations, businesses, and individuals by providing forums for economic opportunities. This position will work very closely with STCs corporate business operations and investment arm of STC Investments Inc., the Legacy Partnerships Unit, and STC Employment and Training Services.
RESPONSIBILITIES
-Facilitating and working with STC Member Nations economic development boards/coordinators on each communitys economic development planning process and recognizing how STC can assist.
-Researching and providing recommendations on community economic development opportunities.
-Evaluating results of economic development studies and agreements and making recommendations.
-Identifying opportunities for economic development based on sectors (i.e. natural resource development, tourism, cultural arts and crafts, etc.)
-Acting as a liaison between STC and Member Nations, local businesses and individuals, and representatives of government, business, and industry concerning economic development
-Developing partnerships within the community to develop and promote opportunities.
