Description

Looking for a motivated individual to assist with a busy general practise law firm in Nipawin. The position will only be part-time to start, but will quickly transition to full-time at the start of December. We are looking for an individual who is willing and able to commit for a minimum of twelve months of employment.

The successful candidate must possess a general aptitude with computers (PC and Microsoft 365 programs), office administration, organizational skills, attention to detail, strong verbal and written communication skills, and be a self-motivated learner.
No specific experience is required, however, previous office experience or legal assistant experience will be considered as a significant asset. Knowledge of PCLaw, strong skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook  are required.
The applicant will be responsible for:
-Answering telephone and in-person inquiries
-Screening phone calls
-Maintaining an organized office and filing system
-Managing client expectations and assisting the lawyer with communicating with clients
-Receipting and depositing money
-Other basic accounting tasks as directed
-drafting legal correspondence and documents accurately
-Following direction from the office lawyer and manager

The applicant will be expected to:
-learn legal concepts and processes in a relatively quick fashion
-be self-motivated and driven to problem solve independently
-assume responsibility for day-to-day tasks assigned to them
-be punctual and reliable every day
-be able to type and draft documents from scratch in a detailed and accurate manner without requiring significant supervision
-be motivated to learn and excel and to continuously enhance their skills
-be able to manage clients and field inquiries independently
-dress business casual on a daily basis
