Description

The CAD Operator / CNC Programmer role has two main functions:
CAD Operator (primary) is responsible for the completion of tank trailer designs from concept to production using AutoCAD Mechanical, Autodesk Inventor and Vault.  They interpret customer driven specifications to arrive at a design and produce the working drawings for fabrication.  The CAD Operator must research and apply Canadian and US motor vehicle safety standards, provincial and state weight laws, the ASME code and codes relating to transportation of dangerous goods.  They will review plans and confer with internal stakeholders to meet project specifications, complete documentation packages, and produce drawing sets.  

The CNC Programmer (secondary) is responsible for maintaining and developing programming for machining operations including but not limited to a CNC router. The CNC Programmer will write and implement programming to improve the efficiency of production as well as the quality of finished products. This individual will utilize blueprints, CAD software, engineering schematics and other specifications to determine machine sequences and subsequently develop efficient programming. The CNC Programmer will also observe machines and product output to detect malfunctions or irregularities and adjust the program as required to ensure quality of production is maintained.

Qualifications:
    Technical/Applied Science Diploma or degree in mechanical or industrial engineering or post-secondary diploma or certification in a related field preferred.
    5 or more years' experience in Computer Aided Drafting (CAD) in a manufacturing setting considered an asset.
    Ability to edit existing drawings and programs as well as generate new 3D models and 2D drawings, and derive CNC programs from engineering data.
