KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
In collaboration with the Health Care Team, build a culture that focuses on ensuring best practices to deliver the highest possible level of patient care, by developing and coordinating personal orientation, education, continuous quality of care standard and outcome evaluation measures.
Develop strategies to improve clinical processes, optimize timeliness of care and operating room efficiencies and utilization.
Focus on appropriate material resources available for the provision of quality patient care and manage these resources within budget/contractual arrangements; slate planning and coordination of special supplies.
Support human resources, to ensure the cost-effective and productive use of resources within the approved staffing budget, selection, development, assessment, and evaluation of staffing requirements.
Assessment of staff development plans for all clinical staff and coordinate planning with the Facility Manager of any identified educational needs.
Undertake Quality Assurance initiatives in partnership with the Facility Manager to be always accreditation ready.
Review of current equipment and supplies, and acquisition of required items to meet the patient population to be served.
40% of time is spent in the Operating Room circulating and scrubbing for various procedures.
Oversee medication management and ordering.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse in good standing with Canadian governing body.
8-10 years of directly related Operating Room experience, with proof of Peri-Operative Certificate.
Leadership experience in an OR setting and PACU exposure preferred.
Financial and statistical management abilities; including the ability to assess, interpret and project operating and capital budgetary needs.
Understanding and compliance with patient and staff safety policies and procedures that foster a safe environment.
