Description

The Saskatoon Downtown Youth Centre Inc. - EGADZ requires a Lead Carpenter and individual interested in Full Time shifts for ATE Construction within EGADZ.
(Shift Work Is Involved - Evenings/Weekends)

EGADZ is an inter-agency, non-profit organization whose purpose is to provide services for hard to serve youth in Saskatoon with the mission to encourage and support them to make choices that improve their quality of life.

The purpose of this position is to teach, mentor and guide young people, giving them carpentry skills and employment opportunities which they will be able to use in moving forward in their lives.  

The ideal candidates are non-judgmental, compassionate and are able to build trusting relationships with clients.

Qualifications:
    Sound knowledge of general custodial and maintenance procedures
    Understanding Fire and Workplace Safety procedures and protocol
    Understanding of Mechanical Systems and maintenance requirements
    Understanding of Cultural Diversity
    Understanding of OHS Regulations pertaining to the job sites and work involved
    Must have a diversity of experience in home maintenance and repairs
    Excellent communication skills, ability to express issues of attention clearly to the sub trades
    Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with other staff, youth, and partnering agencies
    Ability to express ideas and concepts effectively in an oral and written form
    WHMIS Certificate
    Ability to handle crisis situations
    Ability to work shift work: days/evenings/nights as well as weekends if necessary
    Ability to work with minimal supervision  
    Valid drivers license

Starting Wage $24.90
