Description

Elmwood Residences Inc. is a non-profit organization committed to supporting those living with intellectual disabilities.
A SILP Mentor works to support and educate the SILP clients. You will assist individuals to live independently within their community to the best of their ability and set and encourage obtainable goals as identified in their Person-Centered Plans.
Responsibilities:
-Actively carry out all designated duties as requested by the Manager or Directors
-Keep accurate records of work hours and client information to be shared with appropriate recipients upon request
-Participate in orientation and training as required
-Act as a liaison and maintain communication between clients, families and other involved agencies or organizations in assisting clients with goals, SILP services, external resources and information while maintaining confidentiality
-Support individuals with addictions
-Teach clients basic skills not limited to: living independently, maintaining healthy lifestyles, home maintenance, housing and grocery purchases, and personal finances
-Ensure clients receive necessary medical care and attend appointments as needed
-Encourage the development of skills such as; problem-solving, positive coping, socialization, and more
-Treat clients with respect and offer appropriate reminders or encouragement as needed.
Qualifications
-Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable sector
-Disability Support Worker Certificate, Bachelor of Arts or Social Work degree. Other education and experience will be considered
-Knowledge and understanding of available support are assets. Experience developing support programs
-The applicant holds a valid Saskatchewan Class 5 Drivers License with $2 million in liability insurance
-Required to drive personal vehicle
-Capable of making sound judgement calls, and uses effective coping skills
-Trustworthy, maintains confidentiality and positive working relationships
