PARKS/ENGINEERING WORKER

Applications are invited for a number of seasonal positions of Parks/Engineering Worker in the Community Services and Public Works Departments.

These are Labourer type positions that consist of full-time hours from May 23 to October 13 2023. These positions will be utilized in various work units that require seasonal, outdoor work such as Roadways, Sanitation, Parks and the Cooke Municipal Golf Course.

Principle Duties & Responsibilities:
Depending on the work unit the successful applicants may find themselves:
Performing a variety of tasks in construction, maintenance and repair operations.
Performing a variety of pick and shovel work such as digging, shoveling gravel, asphalt and sand.
May assist with grass cutting duties, arena operations, and asphalt work.
Load and unload material and perform both light and heavy manual labouring tasks.
Perform other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:
Grade 12 or equivalent.
Class 5 Drivers License;
Other classifications and endorsements such as Class 1, Class 3, Air brake endorsement and G endorsement for heavy trailer are considered an asset depending on the work unit
Previous experience with a variety of construction, maintenance and repair operations
Ability to understand and carry out verbal and written instructions.
Ability to perform light and/or heavy manual labouring tasks.
Ability to operate small hand tools and motorized equipment efficiently.
Training in WHMIS and Surveying experience would be an asset.

WAGE $15.83 per hour
