The Youth Worker assists children, youth, and young adults in the development of life skills, social skills, and/or access to community resources. Provides individual care and guidance consistent with the needs of an individual or group with mental health issues, behavioural challenges, addictions, interpersonal violence, homelessness, and/or instability. Specific supports provided include, but are not limited to, the development of youth-centered programming, client case management, and crisis intervention. In addition, this position plays a significant role in reaching out to and supporting youth in the community by providing resources and information to youth serving organizations, schools, and caregivers.

-Competent in critical problem-solving and analytical decision making
-Robust communication, conflict resolution, and relationship management skills
-Capable of working independently and as part of a team
-Sound ethical judgment and ability to maintain professional boundaries
-Ability to maintain confidentiality in compliance with all federal and provincial requirements
-Proficiency in compiling data and developing statistical reports
-Comfortable with public speaking and giving presentations
-Strong time and task management skills
-Awareness of, and sensitivity to, the unique circumstances and needs of the youths in the community
