Description

The Ministry of Corrections, Policing and Public Safety has a career opportunity for a self-confident, positive role model to work in Regina at the Regina Correctional Centre and White Birch Remand Unit in a permanent part-time Registered Nurse position (RN/RPN).

We are seeking a compassionate, respectful and empathetic individual who is eager to contribute in a positive way to the challenges of working in a Correctional Centre/Youth Centre. The successful candidate will be a professional who will commit to teamwork and will have effective communication and interpersonal skills. Our candidate of choice will work with a team of health care professionals to provide direct male (RCC)/female (WB) patient nursing care and treatment. You will maintain accurate patient records, actively promote preventative health measures, respond to medical/psychiatric emergencies with appropriate interventions and assess medical and mental conditions, making referrals as needed.

To be considered for this position, you will be actively registered (eligible for registration) with the Registered Psychiatric Nurses Association of Saskatchewan (RPNAS) or the College of Registered Nurses of Saskatchewan (CRNS). You must have a valid BLS-CPR/AED certificate with three (3) months remaining at time of hire. You must have knowledge of medical and psychiatric theories and related intervention strategies; drug/alcohol withdrawal indicators and effects; communicable diseases in a correctional population; public health issues and risk factors; and knowledge of multi-cultural beliefs, values and perspectives.
