Description

The asky internship is both a summer job and a learning experience. Our ideal intern is enthusiastic about gardening and growing food, enjoys working in a team environment, and is culturally competent and comfortable with diversity. There are three intern positions: Lead Urban Ag, Education & Volunteer Assistant, and Marketing and Communications Intern. Job Requirements
-    Must be between the ages of 15-30 years old.
-    Must be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or have been granted refugee status.
-    Legally allowed to work in Canada.
-    No previous experience is necessary.
-    There is an Indigenous cultural component to the internship; applicants of Indigenous descent are encouraged to self-declare in their cover letter.
Working Conditions
-    Working outdoors (including manual labour) in most weather conditions (rain, heat, cold)  
-    Working with people from diverse cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds.
-    All positions may require evening/weekend work as scheduled.
TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
    Work collaboratively to plant, grow, maintain, harvest, and package produce
    Assist with customer service and sales, volunteers and garden visitors
    Participate in workshops, mentorships, excursions, cultural activities
SKILLS/ASSETS:
    Experience working in a garden or a keen interest in gardening or urban agriculture
    Enjoys physical, outdoor work in all weather conditions
    Cultural understanding and sensitivity
    Communication, conflict resolution and creative problem-solving skills
    Drivers license, First Aid and CPR-C, Food Safety (not required)
    Excellent organizational and record keeping, and planning skills
    Experience working with children, youth groups, or volunteers  
    Teamwork, flexibility and adaptability
