Description

Parkland Victim Services Inc. is a non-profit organization which works in cooperation with the RCMP to provide assistance to victims of crime and traumatic events. Program funding is through a grant made available by Saskatchewan Justice.  Parkland Victims Services Inc. is currently recruiting for the position of Indigenous Resource Officer.
The Indigenous Resource Officer is responsible for providing basic services to First Nations and Metis victims of crime and their families. Duties include crisis intervention, information, support, assistance, court orientation, accompaniment and referral.  The Indigenous Resource Officer is also responsible for addressing community interests/concerns as a focus for advocacy within the justice system on behalf of First Nations and Metis victims of crime.  This position involves substantial contact with the public, volunteer victim support workers, community agencies and police employees. The Indigenous Resource Officer is based in Yorkton, Saskatchewan and is directly supervised by the Victims Services Coordinator.

Qualifications:
Basic computer skills, good written skills, records management
Successful candidate to be First Nations or Metis with knowledge of
First Nations and Metis culture and traditions
Demonstrated strength in interpersonal, communication and conflict resolution skills
A degree in the Social Sciences, Human Justice or a related field would be an asset
Public speaking skills
Preference will be given to those having previous experience working with victims
The successful candidate must meet the R.C.M.P. Security Clearance and hold a valid operator's license
