The Career Development Worker plays a pivotal role in helping students achieve their education and career goals by providing personalized support and guidance, answering questions, referral services and providing information and options to help them make informed decisions about their academic future and career aspirations. Working collaboratively with Oateki Partners and representatives from University of Saskatchewan (USask) and Gabriel Dumont Institute (GDI), this position will deliver services that will engage youth in their home communities before they exit high school. The services will provide awareness of post-secondary programming and personalized pathways for each personal situation and career choice. As the student transitions into post-secondary education, JobConnections will be the link to ongoing support.
The Career Development Worker is required to take a lead role in facilitating services that support the career development process of students through such means as assessment, coaching, workshop delivery, basic job preparation skill development, informed job search, referral, and promotion of post secondary programs, services and supports. All functions will occur in or near First Nation and Metis communities of Saskatchewan and will involve extensive travel.
