Job Description: The incumbent is responsible for communicable disease control policy and program development and implementation and for communicable disease health status surveillance and reporting within the northern Saskatchewan. The focus of practice includes the areas of vaccine preventable diseases, sexually transmitted infections, tuberculosis, food and water-borne diseases, animal bites, other communicable diseases regulated under The Public Health Act, 1994. The incumbent works closely with the Medical Health Officers, health authority managers and staff, and in liaison with Saskatchewan Health, other health regions and First Nations agencies.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor Degree in Nursing
Registered or eligible for registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Saskatchewan (CRNS)
Experience
- Master's degree in nursing, community health and epidemiology, or public health or a suitable combination of education and experience is preferred
- Progressive experience in public health/primary care nursing with demonstrated clinical competence
- Experience in communicable disease control programs

- In depth knowledge of northern community health problems and resources; communicable diseases, prevention and control measures; and service delivery systems in the North.
- Proven skills in leadership, problem solving, effective oral and written communication, report writing
