The Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency is seeking a self-motivated, attentive and results oriented individual to fill the role of Crew Leader Pelican Narrows.

This position performs fire suppression activities on wildland fires, from initial attack to sustained action, and share supervision of crew members.

Firefighting includes using fixed and rotor-wing aircraft, fire trucks, and various hand tools and equipment such as pumps, hoses, sprinkler systems and hand torches.

Supervision includes orientation and training of new crew members, ensures fitness training is scheduled for the entire crew, and that fitness activity logs are completed and maintained. Crew Leaders also participate in large fires and may also supervise contract employees and Emergency Fire Personnel.

They may be required to assist other wildfire agency partners. Other assigned duties include wildland fire prevention and mitigation activities, delivery of wildland training, site development and maintenance, and other projects / duties as required.

The successful candidate will typically have gained knowledge of wildfire suppression techniques, firefighting equipment, and fire behavior through experience or training.
The successful candidate must possess and maintain a valid class 5 or greater drivers license; complete a health evaluation according to SPSA policies/guidelines and meet the Type 1 Wildland Fire Fighter WFX-FIT Canadian physical performance standard prior to hire, and annually thereafter.

Completion of Grade 12 would be an asset. Preference will be given to candidates 18 years of age or older.
