Responsibilities:
-Develop familiarity in various unit operations in a uranium milling environment (such as acid leaching, counter current decantation, solvent extraction, precipitation and water treatment)
-Write and review technical reports, process design, equipment and construction specifications
-Create process optimization scoping documents ensuring concise objectives, designs, planning, installation, and commissioning
-Provide assistance and technical advice during design, HAZOPs, procurement, construction and commissioning activities
-Perform targeted monitoring of process units and provide recommendations for process improvements
-Administer process designs that minimize hazards, achieve the desired intent, minimize costs, and adhere to relevant internal and external industry standards
-Contribute technical support including process inspections, process studies and evaluations from inspection findings and pre-startup safety reviews
-Plan and conduct projects to improve efficiency; determine engineering scopes and test plans
-Execute and review Feasibility Studies / Conceptual Design / Process Studies/ Detail Engineering Design
-Development and verification of key design documents (Material Balance, PFDs, P&IDs and Shutdown Keys)
-Work within and support the Management of Change (MOC) process for scope development and execution
Skills and Qualifications:
-A degree in Chemical or Metallurgical Engineering and eligible for registration as a Professional Engineer with APEGS
-Applicants proficient in the conventional unit processes in mineral processing and hydrometallurgy will be given preference
-Experience in OSIsoft PI, PI Vision, SAP is an asset
Work Location & Schedule:
-McClean Lake site
-14 days in and 14 days out rotating schedule
-Normally an 11 hour work day, although some activity outside or normal working hours may be required
