Operational Management
Management and configuration of software and applications
Install and configure database server software
Create database management procedures including backup processes
Identify and learn appropriate software applications used and supported
Maintain and enhance performance of all new and existing software and applications
Perform preventative maintenance, including the installation of service packs, patches, hot fixes, and so on
Plan, execute and manage the integration of new applications into existing systems and software
Write scripts to enhance functionality and/or appearance of Division software and infrastructure
Write, translate, and code software programs and applications according to specifications as needed
Research and make recommendations on integration products and services in support of procurement and development efforts
Create training material and conduct training sessions of software and applications
Provide Help Desk services to Regina Catholic Schools technology users
Provide customer support and issue resolution
Liaise with software developers and engineers to address issues in program logic and the interoperability of new applications with existing software
Recommend, schedule, and perform improvements, upgrades, and repairs
Accurately document instances of software and hardware failure, repair, installation, and removal
Strategy and Planning
Conduct research on products in support of procurement and development efforts
Support development and implementation of new projects
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of software and equipment contracts and supervise contract-based installations
Lead in developing long-term strategies and capacity planning for meeting future corporate hardware and software technology needs
Other duties as assigned by the Applications Manager and/or CIO
