Description

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing wildlife specialist expertise to field staff and project management teams. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
Conducting wildlife surveys and monitoring procedures including breeding bird and herptile surveys, pre-disturbance nest surveys, nest monitoring, various sensitive species-specific surveys, construction mitigation for wildlife, bat surveys and monitoring, and herptile capture and relocation
Providing technical wildlife support to collaborative project teams
Manage tasks and projects according to approved scopes of works and deliver quality reports on schedule
Liaise with on-site client representatives and contractors
Provide quality and independent review for projects
Provide an understanding of environmental Best Management Practices and advise clients accordingly
Work collaboratively within the Triton corporate culture
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
B.Sc. or M.Sc. in biology or related field
Professional Biologist (Alberta Society of Professional Biologists), or Registered Professional Biologist (British Columbia College of Applied Biologists), dependent on location
5+ years of relevant experience
Experience conducting a broad variety of wildlife scopes in pre-construction and construction settings
Species at Risk experience an asset
Familiarity with provincial and federal regulations and guidance materials
Ability to work in physically demanding remote field settings for extended durations, staying in a mix of camp and hotel accommodations
Multi-jurisdictional knowledge of environmental regulations, policies, and permit application processes
Strong technical writing, reporting, communication, team leadership and project management skills
Strong interpersonal skills and collaborative working style
Superior problem-solving skills, with the ability to think outside the box
Valid driver's license from a Canadian province or territory
