The Senior Researcher/Analyst position is responsible for providing technical, analytical and research information to the Health and Social Development Secretariat (HSDS), in support of the (tripartite) Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on First Nations Health and Well-being in Saskatchewan. This position is also responsible for providing written documentation for briefings, updates, and implementation of work/strategic plans. Research areas can include legislation, policy and health service delivery practices.
Typical Duties and Responsibilities
Research and Study
Analyze and evaluate health legislation, policies, processes and data.
Review research undertaken elsewhere and evaluate strengths and weaknesses, applicability within a Saskatchewan First Nations context, etc.
Identify and research ongoing and emerging issues, gaps and disparities that exist in health systems and services for First Nations people.
Consult with academic and professional authorities concerning issues encountered in research.
Provide analysis on new and/or revisions to current legislation and policies that relate to the promotion, enhancement and implementation of the Treaty Rights (including the Medicine Chest clause) and/or related HSDS initiatives.
Develop proposals in areas of health research, policies and legislation.
