JOB SUMMARY
A part-time Library Technician 2 position is available at Moose Jaw Public Library effective April 10, 2023. Reporting to the Management Team, the Library Technician 2 works with other MJPL staff and with commissionaires to provide a safe and welcoming environment for all people using the Moose Jaw Public Library, by engaging patrons, explaining and enforcing the Rules of Conduct, developing effective working relationships, monitoring library spaces for appropriate customer behavior, and de-escalating situations as needed. The Library Technician 2 is designated as the person-in-charge when management is absent, and will act as a liaison with onsite security, law enforcement, social service providers and community groups as needed. In cases where patrons are unwilling or unable to comply with library rules or policies, the Library Technician 2 works with management and other library staff and guards, to address and resolve rules of conduct violations and incidents.
This position is stationed at the Library Information Desk. Therefore, the Library Technician 2 will also be responsible for delivering exemplary reference services to the public. This includes answering information requests, providing readers advisory, answering technology related questions and other library duties as required.  

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- An undergraduate degree or library technology diploma from a recognized institution.
- Experience working in community mental health and/or crisis intervention, or experience in a related field.
- Education/experience in conflict de-escalation, trauma-informed and harm reduction approaches, social and community services and/or similar areas
-Experience with marginalized communities, including individuals with mental health and addiction challenges, those experiencing homelessness, and related groups.
