Description

Wanuskewin Heritage Park is accepting applications for seasonal Resource Management Technicians with up to full-time hours reporting to the Resource Management Coordinator. This position is responsible for conducting resource management activities identified by Wanuskewins Resource Management Plan (RMP). This position is responsible assisting in improving, restoring, and monitoring the ecological and environmental health/integrity of Wanuskewins natural assets.

Responsibilities:

Management of invasive species, including surveying, monitoring, controlling and removing undesirable species.
Oversight and involvement in long-term environmental monitoring programs.
Collect field data and update geodatabase.
Digitize resource management data.
Identify and inventory plant species within the Park.
Guide and supervise the work of other staff or consultants/visitors/volunteers undertaking specific projects.
Assist with maintenance of equipment.
Assist in study design, data collection, and analysis for various monitoring and resource management projects.
Keep up to date with restoration/conservation/resource management science and best practices.
Comply with all external and internal safety practices and requirements; ensure safety is a top priority in all aspects of the role.
Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications and Experience:

Education in the fields of biology, environmental science, renewable resource management, or related natural sciences.
A minimum one year of relevant experience.
Valid Class 5 Drivers License and acceptable drivers abstract
Strong plant and animal identification skills, including native and invasive species.
Ability to work extended hours outdoors.
Ability to work independently and in a team.
A suitable combination of education, training and experience may be considered.
