Responsible to the Director/Curator of Moose Jaw Art Museum Incorporated to manage and run the museum store, and perform the following duties:
-Organize and maintain shop open Friday & Saturday, with the intention of opening during the week once a volunteer base has been established.
-Report to the Operations Manager shop reconciliation at end of day and month end.
-Responsible for cash, float, inventory and debit machine.
-Set up store, displays, and signage. Plan for events.
-Check and fulfill online orders and answer customer inquires.
-Opening and closing procedures.
-Open store for special occasions/events.
-Network with companies to order stock for the store.
-Complete yearly inventory.
-Network with consignors to update store merchandise.
-Fill out consignor pay sheets and update consignor book.
-Manage shop supplies.
-Other duties as assigned by the director/curator.
When plans to expand the gift shop hours are set, duties will include:
-Recruit volunteers for regular shifts and coverage.
-Train volunteers and provide guidance in procedures.
-Up date operations manager, educational coordinator, and administrative assistant on volunteer information and procedures for coverage if gift shop manager is away.
The gift shop manager will have 10 hours a week to perform their duties, on Fridays and Saturdays from 11:45-4:45, which includes 15 minutes to open and 15 minutes to close for a total of 5 hours/day. The shop will run from 12-4:30.
Qualifications:
High School diploma AND some years experience in retail and basic accounting or bookkeeping
Experience in maintaining an inventory.
Experience in cash handling and electronic transactions.
Experience in basic accounting principles and practices.
Experience in office administration
Experience in using software for word processing, spreadsheets, presentations, databases, e-mail and internet browsing.
Experience in a retail setting, including store staging and customer service.
