Description

Duties and Responsibilities

Under the direction of the Executive Director/Assistant Director, duties and responsibilities are as follows:
- Act as a liaison for Shelwin House
- Provide public education, information, and support to enhance urban/rural community's knowledge of interpersonal violence; set up information tables at trade shows/events
- Keep accurate and statistical records
- Facilitate the development of support groups, committees or self-help groups regarding abuse issues (Crossroads Support Group runs Thursday afternoons & evenings)
- Develop and maintain a document of resource people, resource material and services that are available in Yorkton and the area
- Assist communities in identifying resources and building on existing recourses to aid in the prevention of violence
- Assist in the development of community-based programs through work with community agencies and groups
- Assist/facilitate the development of prevention education programs in schools/organizations
- Participate in the evaluation of all aspects of the Outreach Program
- Maintain confidentiality regarding Shelwin House and Outreach Program
- Other Duties, as assigned by the Executive Director/Assistant Director

Qualifications

- Knowledge relevant to interpersonal violence
- Have a thorough knowledge of Yorkton Women in Need Inc. policy and procedures
- Be familiar with current legislation pertaining to interpersonal violence
- Experience in public speaking, group work, and program delivery
- Ability to work independently (self-motivated and enthusiastic)
- Excellent interpersonal skills - the ability to interact with individuals/groups in a respectful and objective manner
- Excellent facilitation skills
- Ability to work flexible hours - Thirty-hour week
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
