Working alongside other program staff and the Summer Program Coordinator (SPL) you will be responsible for coordinating and incorporating daily cultural, social, physical, and educational activities into an 8 week summer program for newcomer children ages 6-12.
The program staff will be expected to introduce a wide variety of cultural, social, and educational activities to children and teach them about life in Canada. The summer program is also focused on physical activity and so the chosen candidate(s) will be expected to assist with planning physical activities and other activities that address the children's unique needs and well-being.
QUALIFICATIONS
Experience working with children
A passion for newcomers children and their families
Great communication skills
Ability to communicate in additional languages an asses (particularly: Arabic, Tigrinya, Swahili, and Kinyarwanda
Program planning and organizing
Ability to supervise children and be patient
Valid CPR & First Aid Training a must!
Criminal record required
Valid Class 5 driver's licenece without restrictions for the past 2 years an asset
These positions are funded by Canada Summer Jobs and so the candidates must be between the aged of 16 and 30, as well as be a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident of Canada.
