Description

The Nutrien Childrens Festival in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan is hiring a General Manager. The successful candidate should be a creative individual who has a passion for the arts, loves working with children, is confident in their communication, management, and leadership skills, and will establish positive connections within the community. Reporting to the Festivals Board of Directors, the General Managers responsibilities include:
Planning and managing annual events (including the festival, community outreach programs, and fundraisers) by working closely with sponsors, community partners, performers, vendors, seasonal staff, and volunteers
Identifying potential sponsors, community partners, performers, and vendors
Overseeing finances, work with budget development, and having a key understanding financial literacy (with the bookkeepers and annual auditors assistance)
Applying for grants and developing other funding opportunities
Preparing contracts (including contracts with performers, vendors, and seasonal staff)
Hiring/finding and supervising seasonal staff and volunteers
Preparing and distributing marketing materials
Arranging transportation and accommodations for performers
Collaborating with contractors to manage marketing, the Festival website, social media, and other channels
Work with the board of directors to plan for the long term sustainability of the festival

The type of person who would be successful in this position:
Willingness to collaborate with community members and stakeholders across the city, the province, and the country
Ability to manage ambiguity and pivot within the role as required to successfully lead the Festival team
Directing self, and team members, during slow and busy times of this seasonally driven organization
Exhibits strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to lead and assist with change management for the organization and the festival stakeholders
Execute on plans and feedback
