Description

We are seeking a Counsellor to support the mental wellness of children, youth, parents and/or caregivers.

Empathy, kindness, care and compassion are the four value-adjectives that we are looking for in a Counsellor within this role.

Building a therapeutic relationship will be one of the most crucial skills sets that we are looking for in order to create a safe, fun and comfortable space for counselling with children and youth.

Rapid Access Counselling is an innovative approach to mental wellness. This program is designed to eliminate as many barriers to mental health access as possible by diminishing waitlists and allowing counselling access as quickly as possible.

Play, art and sand therapy processes are other key methodologies that we utilize with children in our agency. Cognitive behavioral therapy, narrative therapy, motivational interviewing, empowerment theory and dialectical behavioral therapy are other methodologies that are often utilized for wellness supports.

An intersectional, trauma-informed lens is also crucial in this role. Having an understanding of other community service providers for referrals and a wraparound mezzo approach will be an expectation of this role. Knowledge of consent process for counselling children and youth is necessary.

A bachelor of social work or a graduate degree in Social Work, Psychology, Education Psychology or related discipline is required. A graduate degree will be prioritized. You must be a member in good standing with an appropriate professional association.

If you feel that you have an advanced skill set working with children, youth and families and would like to join our team, we invite you to apply.

As an agency, one of our greatest values is work-life balance and we offer a generous benefit package with four weeks of vacation.
