The Saskatchewan Research Councils (SRC) Environment and Biotech Division has an opening in SRC Environmental Analytical Laboratories for an Organic Chemistry Supervisor to lead technical and business operations for its organic chemistry section. SRCs organic chemistry lab performs quantitative chemical analysis using a wide variety of gas and liquid chromatography systems coupled with different detectors, including systems coupled with different detectors, including Mass Spectrometry, Tandem Mass Spectrometry, Flame Ionization, Electron Capture, Ultraviolet/Visible, Phosphorescence and others. The organic chemistry lab works in tandem with other lab sections at SRC to conduct analyses that are important for several sectors, such as environmental, mining, alternative fuels, cannabis, transformer oils and alcoholic beverages.
Accountabilities
Supervise all aspects of daily laboratory operations
Provide ongoing training, guidance, and performance feedback for employee development
Consult and collaborate with clients on project and analytical requirements
Assist in preparing quotes and providing technical information and other services as necessary for clients
Maintain instrumentation, set up new processes and methods, and solve problems using methods and samples
Maintain familiarity with trends in analytical instrumentation and techniques to ensure the laboratory has expertise in the current instrumentation and awareness of new technologies and processes to continue delivering high-quality test results that meet client needs
The chosen candidate will be required to provide an original Criminal Record Check that is satisfactory to SRC prior to the commencement of any employment duties. The Criminal Record Check must have been executed within the preceding 30 days of receipt.
